FPX Components

As a highly integrated and customizable Identity and Access Management solution, FPX consists of various components that work together to provide users with complete control over who has access to their personal data.

The 3 main components of FPX are:

Authorization Server: The Authorization Server (and the integrated Authorization Admin Server) form the primary layer of any FPX environment. The Authorization Server (AS) manages all access requests coming from the client(s) and protects a resource owner’s (user’s) resources on the Resource Server by acting as a solid gating mechanism. All requests are processed through the Authorization Server. The AS then re-routes requests to the Wallet and Resource Server as necessary to perform the required authorization and resource permission checks before providing the required (and approved) data to the client.
Refer to the Authorization Server section of the guide for more information.

FPX Wallet: The Wallet empowers users with the ability to manage credentials and control permissions and policies at the Authorization Server. It helps maintain user privacy within the network and allows for consented transactions. Resource owners leverage the Wallet web or phone UI to authenticate themselves for the purpose of managing resource access requests initiated by the client.
Refer to the Wallet section of the guide for more information.

Resource Server/ Resource Server Adapter: The Resource Server hosts resources on a resource owner's behalf and is capable of accepting and responding to requests for protected resources. The Resource Server Adapter is a separate feature offered by IDENTOS as part of the FPX ecosystem to easily integrate with Resource Servers that are hosted by third parties and rely on commonly used connectivity protocols. For the purposes of this guide, we will be primarily addressing how the Resource Server Adapters can be deployed and customized for the most commonly used connectivity protocols.
Refer to the Resource Server Adapter section of the guide for more information.
